Junk.com

Have you ever moved and suddenly discovered a lot of unneeded junk you want to get rid of? That’s what Junk.com is for. They help simplify the junk removal process by connecting clients to their network of trusted junk removers.

The challenge: Marketing the junk removal business so clients know their junk will be removed quickly, safely, and sustainably while appealing to a younger audience.

Junk.com partnered with Marketwake to humanize their junk removal services.

visual identity

what we did

  • Brand refresh
  • Logo development
  • Typography system
  • Iconography

Out with the old brand, in with the new.

The first challenge in appealing to Junk.com’s younger market was refreshing their visual language. We designed an engaging logo to complement the brand’s youthful feel and explored drawings and textures that evoked a more playful look.

The Junk.com wordmark writing itself out on green, from “Jůn” to “Jůnk.com”.
A specimen of Arizona Flare, the Junk.com typeface, its capitals turning over on orange.
“Your Trash is Our Treasure” in the Junk.com typeface, with illustrated movers carrying an armchair, a lamp and a box between the words.
A brick townhouse street with a “Find Us In Your City” search, as Junk.com's cities pop up around it.

custom illustrations

what we did

  • Art direction
  • Art management
  • Custom illustrations

Drawing upon our competitive research.

We also needed to make Junk.com stand out against the homogeneous junk landscape. We partnered with Form Play Studio to create a set of custom illustrations that humanized the brand. We aimed to add a friendlier tone to junk removal, inviting readers to imagine themselves as a key part of each step.

Three illustrated movers carrying a lamp, a frame and an armchair, over “Decluttering Your Space Starts Here” on yellow.
The Junk.com “J” typing out “Junk Removal Has Never Been Easier”, then the four steps in turn: schedule a pick up date, connect with a provider, receive a reminder call, have your junk removed.

brand messaging

what we did

  • Voice & tone
  • Workshops
  • Audience mapping

It’s not all junk.

Our final task was making sure Junk.com’s brand clearly spoke to two audiences: end users and potential partners.

Along with the new logo, we established a welcoming voice and tone in their web copy that was professional, clear, and empathetic, all with a healthy dose of cheekiness.
