Migrating to GA4 with Marketwake
Our six-step migration plan helps maintain and migrate your data to the new and improved GA4 database. As certified Google Partners, we already optimize UA for most of our clients which means we can personalize your migration plan to your business's needs.
We’ll evaluate your current UA usage to determine which metrics need translation to GA4.
We’ll help you set up parallel tracking to use UA alongside GA4 for richer data collection.
Allow several (3-6) weeks of data collection to compare metrics and reporting differences in GA4.
Translating your metrics over to GA4 from UA is not a 1:1 switch. We’ll help you customize new dashboards.
We’ll walk your team through a dashboard tour, educate them about new metrics and vocabulary, and more.
GA4 is still in the early stages of its development, so we will continuously optimize our process as GA4 grows.
In order to keep up with evolving audience needs, Google gave Universal Analytics an upgrade, requiring businesses to migrate their data to GA4 by July 2023. Those who don’t make the switch could risk losing:
Up to a year’s worth of historical data.
Access to all historical UA data by the end of 2023.
2-3 months for the migration/GA4 onboarding process.
Time reconfiguring GA4 dashboards and reporting fields.
Luckily, you can avoid all of the above by migrating with Marketwake!
Google Analytics 4 is the newest version of the premiere web traffic analytics tool, Google (“Universal”) Analytics. Though it might share a name with its predecessor, Google Analytics 4 is an entirely different platform built with intelligent new features for the current digital age.
Users will only have access to historical data in the current Universal Analytics platform until the end of 2023. To maintain a record of enough historical data for comparison, we recommend migrating as early as possible (AKA immediately).
GA4 is more powerful and insightful than the analytics tools that came before. Better predictive capability. Features include:
Events-based tracking.
AI-enhanced data learning.
Cross-device management capabilities.
UA data modeling is often blocked by cookie-consent rules and privacy concerns.
UA’s current measurement model is based on sessions and pageviews.
UA determines user count by the total number of users on the site.
UA’s interface includes three tiers of data organization (Account > Property > View).
The new Google Analytics 4 uses AI-enhanced data learning to fill in gaps in data.
GA4 records user interactions on a website or app by distinct events – clicks, scrolls, user actions, etc.
GA4 determines user count by the number of active users on the site who are currently engaged.
GA4 has two tiers of data organization (Account > Property). GA4’s reporting interface does not include as many reporting properties as UA.
Reach a wider audience, collect valuable data, and engage subscribers with a flat monthly fee.
We tried to migrate our own Universal Analytics profile over to GA4, thinking it was just a simple update in code. I’ve been working in UA for over three years, and when I got into the new platform, I saw features I’d never even heard of before. Luckily, we found Marketwake and they outlined a clear and feasible solution to migrating our UA data easily to GA4.
We thrive on making our partners happy. Read more about how Marketwake can help ease your UA to GA4 transition.
