Combining Digital Marketing and RevOps to Drive Growth for a Scrap Yard Software Company

 In 2005, scrap metal compliance laws expanded across the United States, causing a high demand for new software that could help scrapyards and recycling centers prove their compliance. Before ScrapRight entered the scrap and recycling software space, however, there was a general lack of customer service being provided by the legacy brands. As a result, ScrapRight set out to create an easy-to-use software that combines old-school values with new-school tech
The biggest challenge for ScrapRight was finding a new way to connect with their target audience. Because their buyers are in the metals, machinery, and logistics industries, they’re not the “typical” SaaS audience. Instead of fluffy or long-winded pieces of content, we created scrap metal marketing campaigns that were direct, clear, engaging, and even entertaining. 

Additionally, the ScrapRight team needed a marketing partner that was an expert on all things sales and marketing best practices. This would let the ScrapRight team focus their efforts on what they do best—serving scrap yards.

Optimizing the Marketing to Sales Process

Before we crafted any content, our team conducted an audit of ScrapRight’s CRM and interviewed their sales reps to identify their biggest conversion pain points. Our initial plan included reworking sales cadences, removing spam leads, adding lead source data, and leveraging reports to show where leads were coming from. These efforts quickly increased conversion rates, made sales reps more efficient, and enabled us to back our scrap yard marketing strategy with proven data.

Crafting Content That Converts

All of our marketing assets—from design imagery to copy—were created to be eye-catching, engaging, and conversion-focused. We analyzed the top-performing assets each quarter to get a better feel for which elements and messages resonated the best with ScrapRight’s target audience. The results? ScrapRight saw a 390% increase in website traffic within the first 6 months of our partnership.

Building an Efficient Conversion Funnel

On top of lead tracking and flexible content, our team saw an opportunity for ScrapRight to further nurture their target audience. To accomplish this, we took the top-performing assets and repurposed them for emails, banner ads, and sponsored media across several outlets. We also launched organic campaigns across social media that featured more lighthearted, entertaining content that stood out from ScrapRight’s competitors.
