Positioning Retention.com for Long-Term Growth Through an Elevated Rebrand

In today’s ever-changing eCommerce landscape, brands that use Shopify often struggle to recover lost shoppers. Cart abandonment, anonymous shoppers, and incomplete email lists are just a few of the roadblocks they may face along the way. Retention.com was founded in 2019 to fix this. By helping brands better track the behavior of potential customers without the need for lead forms, Retention.com helps lower acquisition costs and boost revenue.

The SaaS market is highly competitive, though. To stand out, Retention.com needed a new way to differentiate itself from its competitors. How could they translate their unique value props to potential users while also climbing the search engine rankings? The Marketwake team was brought in to do just that. By focusing on an elevated visual look and the creation of a formal brand guide, we helped Retention.com optimize the way their offerings and benefits are presented to users.
Because the timeline for this rebrand was very tight, our team needed to be on their toes from start to finish. While keeping in touch with our points of contact daily, we strategically combined our typical process with an agile method to ensure on-time delivery of each deliverable. Creating a New Visual Identity

Because Retention.com’s audience is eCommerce brands, we wanted to create a website that felt less like a tutorial. Inspired by the unique feel of Barcelona’s street art, our designers set out to give Retention.com a more emotive and playful brand—something completely out of the ordinary for a typical SaaS company. To accomplish this, we focused on dynamic moments that were designed to attract and engage users on the site. Bold imagery was also used to give Retention.com a more polished appeal.

Establishing Defined Brand Messaging Guidelines

On top of the new design, we helped Retention.com identify their most efficient messaging strategies. While SaaS marketing can seem technical at times, we knew Retention.com’s voice and tone needed to match their new visual identity. Through industry research, a brand messaging workshop, and SEO optimizations, we helped craft a compelling brand story that also boosted Retention.com’s search rankings.

Producing Video Content for Tradeshows

For Retention.com, tradeshows are a big part of their B2B lead generation strategy. How could we replicate their new branding beyond the website? To further highlight client success stories, our team produced a compelling, evergreen video piece that featured custom animations and graphics. We were involved at every step—from script writing to storyboarding and editing.
