PROBLEM
Icon Source found itself at the forefront of an up-and-coming industry. NIL (an opportunity for college athletes to make money off of their name, image, and likeness) was passed on July 1, 2021 and changed the sport forever.
Icon Source had already infiltrated a small segment of the professional market, but wanted to go from small player to market dominator with the collegiate segment opening up a new avenue for revenue. Icon Source came to Marketwake with aspirations of growing organic traffic, impression share, and keyword rankings.
SOLUTION
With Icon Source looking to expand their keyword rankings and grow their organic traffic, we worked on creating a resource hub for 12 specific states we identified as first movers and hotbeds for well know collegiate athletes.
We started with a pillar page on NIL covering the timeline and providing the user context on the many different aspects of NIL and how college athletes and brands can leverage it.
We researched what terms were already existing for NIL and researched based on other keyword queries in the industry what new keywords would gain traction. Then we did the same for all 12 states and multiple schools existing in each state.
